Seed
Seed is a documentary directed by Andrew Wonder about 3 teams competing for funding through hackathon organization AngelHack. After being asked to create video art for the film which was used in projections for the interview scenes, I was asked back to work with Jason Mendez on the rest of the visual package for the film. This ended up including: the opening sequence, the film title logo & animation, animation sequences for the 3 team's introductions, name cards, end credits and glitch transitions sprinkled throughout the film. We brought in the amazing Mark Kulakoff, who gave us some next level work that was essential to the glitches, and a lot of other awesome animations, but sadly most of his work didn't make it into the final product.
Below are the title reveal for the film, an intro sequence for
one of the featured teams, and a version of the credits.
Here are stills from some of the glitch transitions used
throughout the film.
Originally the director wanted an introductory sequence with various facts about angel investing and hackathons, but while editing decided the film didn't need so much explanation and the sequence was cut. Most of the below frames are initial ideas for this sequence, but also shown are early look and feel style frames.
